Storm Hawks- Aerrow

It's been a while since I've been on DA, but I honestly got this uploaded sooner than I was expecting to. And I got to say, I am VERY satisfied with the finished product.

This is Aerrow, Sky Knight of the Storm Hawks. He's a plucky 14 year old boy with a strong sense of justice and an untamable daredevil streak. Though young, he is well respected by his fellow Sky Knights and his teammates, whom he treats like a family. He's a great fighter and an outstanding pilot, capable of matching the Dark Ace, one of the most feared pilots in the skies. He is usually accompanied by Radarr, who serves as his co-pilot and butt protector.

Okay, this pic was done a bit differently than the others. First off, I drew it on Manga Studio Debut 4 instead of on paper. It kind of made me nervous with my flimsy hand and tablet, but I've gotten so accustomed to doing art on the computer that I reach for Ctrl+z everytime I screw something up on paper. So yup, Aerrow is completely digital. Second, I spent a lot more time and energy on him than the last few. I felt Finn had been my best pic, since it was my first and was closer to my style. As time went on, the other characters looked more and more like the original artwork from the show, but I really burnt the midnight oil to avoid that with Aerrow, one because of his importance on the show, and two because he's the second to last character I draw. Third, he's just more detailed all around. His clothes, skin, hair, I tried to give everything a better since of materiality than just leaving the colors solid. Fourth, that backround. I learned a few Photoshop tricks in creating that lightning, so I walked away from the computer more knowledgeable in those matters.

He's probably my favorite and the best so far, but he was still pretty finicky. His hair was a bitch, I screwed up his shirt, and I had a hard time trying to find the right pose. Aerrow just isn't one for a semi-dynamic stance, he's either just standing there or he's in action, no real in between. I wanted to draw him with his daggers, but it felt wierd drawing them when his hands would be at his sides, out of the drawing altogether. So... sorry about that, if you're one of the fans that was expecting something more energetic.

Yup, I am very happy with Aerrow, and I hope his fans are too (looks at Shubba). Just one more character left!! Gee, I wonder who that could be...
