Forgiveness

This is my submission to the Kubo and the Two Strings art contest, featuring Kubo and his grandfather, the Moon King.  Kubo faced some tough obstacles in the movie, but I thought his greatest challenge would be forgiving his grandfather for everything he's done.  I imagine Kubo having a lot of difficulty doing this (even if the Moon King is effectually innocent now), but he's also the only blood relative Kubo has.  I can't see Kubo cuddling up to Raiden anytime soon, but I think he could grow to love his grandfather as time goes on.  Hopefully those are the feelings this picture conveys. 

I'm a little disappointed I didn't submit this sooner.  When I was looking at the entries a few days ago, I didn't see anyone who had forgiveness as a theme for their pic, but when I checked yesterday, there were a few.    I guess I don't get many points for originality on that one.  Not 4 or 5 hours ago, I thought up a theme that was a bit more original, but inspiration comes a little too late sometimes.  I did do this in a style I'm not wholly used to though, and in Corel Painter, which I'm still an amateur at.  I was going to do this in Photoshop, but my tablet bugs out whenever I try using any art program besides Corel Painter now.  I think it has something to do with the pressure sensitivity, but I can't seem to fix it.  Anyway, I did this pic in a story book like fashion, and I've come to realize that I'm not very good at drawing backgrounds.    That's something that I hope to improve upon when I get time to draw more again.  Also, I like how Kubo turned out, but I'm not sure about Raiden.  No matter what I did, he just didn't look quite right.  He's a bit short, but the light and the coloring kinda messed with me.  That's one of the most frustrating things about making art for me; when you know something is wrong but don't know how to fix it.  Bleh.

I had a lot of fun drawing this, and this is the first contest I've entered on DeviantArt!  YAY!!  But anywho, I need to submit this before time runs out.  I hope you guys like it.  Please comment, fave, and critique if you so like.  Have a good night!
